The Earl of Sandwich shop recently opened its doors to Guests at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Operating in the former location of Gourmet Pantry, the new Quick Service Food and Beverage operation features a variety of hot, freshly prepared sandwiches.

The restaurant features an open kitchen, and interior and exterior seating for 220 Guests. The dining area reflects the history of the Earl of Sandwich combined with a contemporary edge. Wall grahpics include photos from the Sandwich family archive and the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England.

Hot, freshly prepared sandwiches with original sauces and spreads highlight the menu, which also includes salads, wraps, ready-made sandwiches, desserts and merchandise.

The shop's name honors British naval officer John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, who is credited with inventing the sandwich in 1762. Montagu's living descendant, 11th Earl of Sandwich John Montagu, and his son Orlando collaborated with Robert Earl.

OLP Review:

Earl of Sandwich The menu is simple and fresh

with plenty of yummy looking options to me; >) If you order a salad, you pick your greens from this display case Then watch the castmember mix the ingredients fresh!

The inside seating was swamped at noon when we went, but we got a pleasant seat outside I had the Chinese Chicken Salad

and Alan had the Tuna Melt (Does this bread look yummy, or what?! and we shared the tomato soup

Our meal with drinks was less than $20.00 and very tasty:) We were very pleased with the quality of this counter service restaurant food!

quick and easy

Earl of Sandwich hits the spot.  Its quick and easy to get your food and no reservations are needed.  So if you are looking for a quick bite this hits the spot.  Sandwiches are just the right size and the side dishes are good.  I look forward to eating here when we get to Downtown Disney.

Earl of Sandwich YUMMY!

Everytime my family and I are in the Downtown Disney area, one of the must-do's on my list is eating at Earl of Sandwich.  The food here is so delicious and fresh, with the yummy sandwich bread being baked fresh throughout the day.  There are lots of choices on the menu.  I think that everyone should be able to find something to suit their palate.  My personal favorite is the Italian Sandwich which contains salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, mozzarella, tomato & Italian dressing (my mouth is watering as I type this).  If you enjoy fresh hot sandwiches, salads and soups, this location is definitely one to try.

Delicious Counter Service with Winter Specials!

Earl of sandwich is the perfect place to stop for a sandwich in Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World!  The food is fresh and delicious.  The service is great, too!  This restaurant is privately owned; not owned by Disney.  They run regular seasonal specials on their menu.  For winter they are running a special on mac 'n' cheese, Mediterranean Pasta Salad, Check Pesto Pomodor Sandwich, and their delicious, maybe not so nutritious, chocolate chocolate chip cookie.  Oh, but what a way to end a meal!

Well its cheap...

We recently tried out the very popular Earl of Sandwich for a quick lunch.  First of all, let me say that this is probably one of the most economical meals to be had on Disney property.  The lines are usually so long, that we bypass the place entirely and head over to Wolfgang Express.  This time the lines were quite moderate so we decided to give it a try.

I got a tuna melt which was ok, the bread wasn't cooked properly so it seemed a little doughy.  The tuna salad is ok but not excellent.  Ahnalira got the chicken salad and thought it was fresh, she wasn't thrilled with eating it out of the little cardboard container it came in.  For presentation, gets a 0.  Ambience is pretty bad, very crowded loud and chaotic inside... so we ended up sitting in the heat outside and watching little kids playing in the water which was fun.

The highlight of the meal was the ice
Good lunch
